Our team

Sean is a Partner and Co-Founder of Serendipity Capital, which was established in late 2019. Serendipity Capital invests in companies that enhance and secure the critical technologies and infrastructure of tomorrow. It is focused on disruptive thematics including AI and ML, climate and sustainability, quantum technologies and security. Sean leads the investments team and works closely with a number of Serendipity’s portfolio companies. Sean is a member of the Advisory Board of Encompass and a Board Observer of Mirato.

Before co-founding Serendipity, Sean spent nearly 20 years operating and investing primarily in the financial services industry. Sean was a member of the founding team and the Executive Committee for Tyme Bank, South Africa’s first challenger bank. Tyme Bank was a subsidiary of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia where Sean was a General Manager of the strategy team. Previously Sean was a Director of Amelius Holdings. Amelius is a privately owned investment company that seeks to invest in disruptive or under-priced businesses. He has also worked for Macquarie Capital and Boston Consulting Group.

Sean holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor of Business Science from the University of Cape Town.
